UPDATE: Small Turnout for “JUMAH at the DNC”

Islamic prayers in Marshall Park draw only 200, instead of the 20,000 expected by the organizers.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — About 200 Muslim men, women and children prayed together Friday afternoon, as police and protesters looked on in Marshall Park for the Jumah at the DNC 2012.

The event, sponsored by the Bureau of Indigenous Muslim Affairs, was added to the official DNC Host Committee calendar and the implied endorsement angered people across the country.

Earlier this week, the committee removed the Jumah from its calendar.

Officials said speakers for the event and statements and positions from event organizers were not appropriate and relevant to the Host Committee.

Organizer Jibril Hough, of the Islamic Center of Charlotte, said the Jumah was never sponsored by the DNC Host Committee.

“The DNC did not do this. We did this,” said Hough. “It is about prayer, not politics. We want to celebrate the community and let people know about our beliefs.”
Several protesters showed up to Marshall Park during the Jumah and a few shouted and chastised the worshippers.

Police did get involved by asking the protesters to turn down their sound system.

Most of the people attending the Jumah said they felt it was a success and look forward to other Islamic events happening through the weekend.

Hough, who is on the DNC Welcome Committee, said he felt it was a historic day and is proud of his city.

DNC Removes All Reference of “Official” Muslim Event from Website

Earlier this week, we posted an article about the DNC sponsoring, as an “official event” JUMAH at the DNC (watch the promotional video here).

Florida Family Association sent out an email alert on August 29, 2012 which reported the following two sub headlines:

“DNC approves Jumah for 20,000 Muslims.” “RNC adopts anti-Sharia plank at convention.”

The email alert and Floridafamily.org website provided a link to the DNC web site calendar of events which at that time and up until yesterday afternoon included the Juma event, which the original DNC website listed as an “official function.”

However, since then, the Jumah event was removed from the DNC web site calendar, and there is no reference at all to the event. A supporter noted in an e-mail, “It was still there 5.30 PM on 8/30/2012 and at 6.30 PM it was gone! I looked everywhere but it’s not listed anymore.”

(See video at the bottom of the page here.)

Not only has all trace of the Jumah been deleted from the DNC webiste, the Jumah was slated to be held today, far from the DNC, at a location seven miles from the Convention Center.

One can only speculate on the kind of pressure that was exerted on the DNC to disassociate itself from the Jumah. Prior to the cleansing of the DNC website, it was announced by the that Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the president of the U.S. bishops’ conference and, some think, in line to be considered to succeed Pope Benedictus XVI, had been refused the opportunity to give the closing benediction at the DNC, as he did at the RNC.

The group sponsoring the assembly is far from the mainstream Muslm community. The Grand Imam for the Jumah will be Siraj Wahhaj, Imam of the al Taqwa Mosque in Brooklyn, who was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the World Trade center bombings. He is well known for his ability to be considered ‘moderate’ by much of the media, on the one hand, and for his inflammatory statements, such as the one he once gave in a speech, when he said that it was his “duty and our duty as Muslims to replace the U.S. Constitution with the Quran.”

Both Wahhaj and Jibril Hough, who is associated with the “Bureau of Indigenous Muslim Affairs” and a co-leader of the event, are heavily involved in the separatist American Islamist movement.

The Prez invited 20,000 and 200 came…looks like everyone is aware of the disaster to befall his administration in November.

There’s no limit to how far the Democrats will stoup to get a few votes I’m surprised they didn’t just try to buy them with our money.

It is Creeping Sharia. From a toe hold, these people intend to one day stand on our heads!

The liberal Democratic (socialist) members of Congress are beginning to show their true colors, and giving the people some idea of what they have in mind for our country. With a combination of Muslims and Communists in the group;, no telling just what type of government we will wind up with if Obama is reelected. One thing is certain, if Obama and his group of supporters are successful, it will be totalitarian.

They have no business carrying their message at a political event anyway. Dems always say that, unless they want them there. They must have known it was wrong or they wouldn’t have taken them off the list.

There is no such thing as an “indigenous muslim”. They have never been in any way shape or form, part of America, past or present. The left just continues to re-write history to suit it’s own twisted opinions. The freedoms enjoyed here in this country are being taken advantage of by a group of Islamic radicals under the guise of “religion” when they are nothing more than a cult: a cult who’s only goal is to force conformity or be killed. This nations ONLY “indigenous” people are the American Indians and have no connection to Muslims. When a self proclaimed “religion” forces anyone to convert to it or be killed, it is no longer a religion, it has become a cult, therefore has no Constitutional protections under “freedom of religion”.

they must need to be known as “indigenous muslim” as they most likely receive government monies… at least from this administration…
